Kimchi Rice Stir-Fry
Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • 1/4 cup ground beef
  • 1 green onion, sliced, white and green parts separated
  • 1 cup kimchi, drained and chopped
  • 1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean hot pepper paste), or to taste
  • 3 cups cooked short-grain rice
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon butter
  • 1 egg
Instructions
1
Heat a generous amount of canola oil in a large, non-stick cooking vessel over extremely high heat. Introduce ground beef and the white components of a green onion into the pan, then decrease the heat to a moderate level. Cook and stir the beef and green onion mixture until the meat is nicely browned and the onion emits a fragrant aroma, approximately 1 to 2 minutes.
2
Combine kimchi and gochujang into the meat mixture, stirring until warmed through and fragrant. This process should take an additional 2 to 4 minutes. Add cooked rice to the mixture and continue cooking, stirring constantly, until the rice is heated through and evenly coated with gochujang. This step should take an additional 3 to 5 minutes.
3
Drizzle a small amount of sesame oil over the rice mixture, ensuring it is well-coated. Garnish with the green components of a green onion.
4
Melt 1 teaspoon of butter in a skillet over a moderately high heat setting. Gently crack an egg into the pan and cook until the white is completely set and the yolk reaches a thick, creamy consistency. Place the cooked egg over the fried rice.
