Ingredients
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup light corn syrup
- 1/3 cup unsulfured molasses
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 3 tablespoons bourbon
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 4 eggs
- 3 tablespoons half-and-half cream
- 2 cups chopped walnuts
- 1/3 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust
Instructions
1
Heat your oven to the highest temperature setting, which is 350 degrees Fahrenheit or 175 degrees Celsius.
2
Combine a substantial amount of brown sugar, corn syrup, molasses, butter, bourbon, vanilla extract, and salt in a large, heavy saucepan. Place the saucepan over high heat and bring the mixture to a rolling boil, stirring constantly throughout the process. Allow the mixture to boil for 1 minute, still stirring frequently.
3
In a separate, smaller bowl, whisk eggs together with half-and-half until they are fully incorporated and smooth. Gradually mix the egg mixture into the cooled syrup mixture, ensuring everything is well combined.
4
Mix in chopped walnuts and chocolate chips to the egg- mixture-syrup mixture until they are fully incorporated.
5
Pour the final filling mixture into a pie crust. Place the pie in your preheated oven and bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the pie comes out clean.
6
Serve the warm or at room temperature pie.
