Kafta Meat Fingers with Tahini
Ingredients
  • 3/4 pound ground beef
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 cup water
  • 3/4 cup tahini
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon mixed spices
Instructions
1
Heat your oven to the highest temperature setting, which is 375 degrees F (or 190 degrees C).
2
Add beef to a bowl and sprinkle it with salt and pepper. Mix the ingredients together until they are well combined.
3
Use your hands to shape the beef mixture into 6 small finger-like shapes. Place these shapes on a baking sheet that has not been greased with any cooking spray.
4
Bake the beef finger shapes in your preheated oven until they start to turn a light brown color, which should take around 7 minutes.
5
Meanwhile, combine water, tahini, lemon juice, a blend of spices, salt, and pepper in another bowl. Use an electric mixer to whisk the ingredients together until the tahini is fully incorporated and has a smooth, fluffy texture.
6
Transfer this mixture to a saucepan over low heat. Cook the mixture constantly, stirring it frequently, until it starts to simmer, which should take about 3 minutes.
7
Add the cooked beef finger shapes back into the saucepan with the tahini mixture. Continue to cook and stir occasionally until the meat is fully cooked through and no longer pink in the center. To check, insert an instant-read thermometer into the center of one of the finger shapes and verify that it reads at least 160 degrees F (or 70 degrees C).
