- 1/3 cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs
- 1/2 small onion, chopped
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
- 1 tablespoon cracked black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 cup marinara sauce
- 3 hoagie rolls, split lengthwise

Preheat the oven to a high temperature of three hundred fifty degrees Fahrenheit, or one seventy-five degrees Celsius.

In a moderately sized bowl, combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, finely chopped onion, a pinch of salt and pepper, a dash of garlic powder, and half of the mozzarella cheese. Shape the mixture into a cylindrical form, and position it in an eight by eight inch baking dish.

Bake the mixture in the preheated oven for fifty minutes, or until the center is no longer a deep red color. Allow it to rest for five minutes before slicing into thin, half-inch thick pieces.

Place a few slices of the meat mixture onto each hoagie roll, cover with marinara sauce, and sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese over the top.

Wrap each sandwich in aluminum foil, and return it to the oven for fifteen minutes, until the bread is lightly toasted and the cheese is melted.

Allow the sandwiches to stand for fifteen minutes before serving. Each sandwich serves two people.
