J.P.'s Giant Biscuits
Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup shortening
  • 1 cup milk
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to a high temperature of 425 degrees Fahrenheit (220 degrees Celsius).
2
To create the dry ingredients, combine flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt in a spacious bowl. Use a pastry blender or your fingers to incorporate shortening into the mixture until it has a rough, uneven texture.
3
Next, gradually add milk to the dry ingredients while stirring until the dough separates from the sides of the bowl.
4
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead it 15 to 20 times, until it becomes smooth. Roll or pat the dough out into a uniform thickness of 1 inch.
5
Using a large biscuit cutter or a glass dipped in flour, cut out the biscuits. Repeat this process until all of the dough has been used.
6
Before placing the biscuits on a baking sheet, gently brush off any excess flour. Arrange the biscuits on the ungreased surface.
7
Place the baking sheet in a preheated oven and bake until the edges of the biscuits start to turn golden brown, which should take around 13 to 15 minutes.
8
Finally, indulge in your freshly baked biscuits!
