Italian Broccoli Pasta Salad
Ingredients
  • 1 (8 ounce) package linguine pasta
  • 1 (12 ounce) bag broccoli florets, cut into bite-size pieces
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 4 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 cup finely shredded Romano cheese
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • salt to taste
Instructions
1
Begin by filling a large container with water and adding a moderate amount of salt; place the pot over high heat and bring the water to a rolling boil.
2
Cook pasta in the boiling water until it reaches your desired level of doneness, which should take around 11 minutes; once done, remove it from the water with a slotted spoon and return it to its original container.
3
While the pasta is cooking, prepare the steaming process by inserting a specialized insert into a saucepan and filling it with water, leaving just enough room at the bottom for the insert.
4
Bring the water to a boil and then add the broccoli, covering it with a lid; steam the vegetables until they are tender, which should take anywhere from 3 to 5 minutes.
5
In a small saucepan, heat a moderate amount of olive oil over medium heat; cook and stir the garlic and red pepper flakes until they release their fragrance, taking around 1 to 3 minutes.
6
Combine the garlic mixture with the cooked pasta and broccoli, gently tossing everything together to ensure an even distribution of flavors.
7
Add a blend of cheese, parsley, black pepper, and salt to the pasta mixture; toss everything together one last time to create a harmonious combination of flavors and textures.
