Ingredients
- 1 (12 pound) whole turkey
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup water
Instructions
1
Begin by preheating your oven to a temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit, which is equivalent to 175 degrees Celsius.
2
Then, take the turkey out of its packaging and remove any unwanted internal components, such as giblets.
3
Rinse the turkey under cold water to clean it thoroughly, and gently pat it dry with paper towels.
4
Next, position the turkey in a roasting pan so that its breast side is facing downwards. This will help to ensure even cooking.
5
Place half of the butter in the turkey's cavity, making sure it is evenly distributed. Cut the remaining butter into small pieces and rub them all over the exterior of the turkey's skin.
6
Pour some water into the roasting pan to add moisture, and then cover it with aluminum foil.
7
Finally, put the turkey in the preheated oven and continue cooking until the internal temperature of the thighs reaches 180 degrees Fahrenheit, or 80 degrees Celsius. This should take around 3 to 3 1/2 hours.
