Instant Pot Holiday Frozen Turkey Breast
Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 1 apple, cut into chunks
  • 3 stalks celery, chopped
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 (.87 ounce) package turkey gravy mix
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 2 teaspoons dried thyme
  • 2 teaspoons dried rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 (3 pound) frozen boneless turkey breast (such as Butterball®)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup quick-mixing flour (such as Wondra®)
Instructions
1
Turn on the multi-cooker, switching it to its Saute mode. Melt butter in the pot to create a rich base for cooking. Sear sliced onions, apples, and celery until they begin to soften, about 5 minutes. Add chicken broth to the pot, scraping off any browned bits from the bottom of the container. Introduce the gravy mix and stir until it's fully incorporated.
2
In a small bowl, combine kosher salt, thyme, rosemary, black pepper, sage, and garlic powder. Rub the spice blend all over the turkey breast to add depth of flavor.
3
Insert a trivet into the pot and carefully place the seasoned turkey on top. Close and secure the lid, then select high pressure according to the manufacturer's instructions. Set a timer for 50 minutes and allow 10-15 minutes for pressure to build up.
4
To release the pressure, use the natural-release method as instructed by the manufacturer. This can take anywhere from 10 to 40 minutes.
5
In a separate bowl, whisk together water and quick-mixing flour until you achieve a smooth slurry.
6
Carefully unlock the lid, transfer the turkey to a plate, and strain the liquid from the pot. Return the strained liquid to the pot and switch it back to Saute mode. Bring the mixture to a boil, then slowly stir in the slurry until the gravy reaches your desired consistency. Slice the turkey and serve it with a rich, savory gravy.
