Instant Pot Beef Stroganoff with Egg Noodles in Savory Gravy
Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 1/2 onion, diced
  • 2 teaspoons salt, divided
  • 2 pounds beef stew meat, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 cups chopped mushrooms
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 1 (16 ounce) package wide egg noodles
  • 3/4 cup sour cream, or to taste
Instructions
1
Acquire all necessary ingredients beforehand.
2
Begin by activating a versatile pressure cooker, such as an Instant Pot, and choose the Sauté mode. Heat oil in the pot for a full minute.
3
Add an onion and half a teaspoon of salt to the pot; stir constantly until the onion starts to soften, taking around 3 to 4 minutes.
4
Sprinkle beef with an additional teaspoon of salt and a few grinds of pepper. Introduce the beef to the pot, stirring frequently until it is evenly browned, approximately 2 minutes.
5
Add minced garlic and thyme to the pot; stir until fragrant, roughly 30 seconds pass.
6
Pour in soy sauce. Introduce sliced mushrooms into the pot; stir until they are well combined with the other ingredients.
7
Add a spoonful of flour, stirring until it is fully incorporated. Add chicken broth and the remaining half teaspoon of salt; stir to combine.
8
Close and secure the lid. Follow the manufacturer's guidelines for setting the pressure cooker to high, taking 10 minutes.
9
Allow 10 to 15 minutes for the pressure to build up.
10
Carefully release the pressure using the quick-release method.
11
Open the pot; add cooked egg noodles and close the lid again. Set the pressure cooker to high once more, following the manufacturer's instructions for 5 minutes.
12
Allow 5 minutes for natural pressure release. Release any remaining pressure using the quick-release method.
13
Open the pressure cooker; stir in sour cream.
14
Serve and indulge in your delicious dish!
