Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
1
Preheat the oven to its highest temperature setting, which is 350 degrees Fahrenheit or 175 degrees Celsius. Next, take a 9x13-inch baking dish and apply a thin layer of cooking oil to prevent it from sticking during the baking process.
2
In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup white sugar, and 1/2 cup softened butter until you achieve a crumbly texture. Add a pinch of salt to the mixture and stir well.
3
Now, measure out 1 cup of this crumbly mixture and set it aside for later use. This will be your 'topping'.
4
In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 cup of buttermilk, 2 eggs, and 1 teaspoon baking soda until the mixture is smooth and free of lumps.
5
Add this wet ingredient mixture to the crumbly mixture from earlier and stir until you achieve a smooth batter. Pour this batter into your prepared baking dish.
6
Now, sprinkle the reserved 1 cup of crumbly mixture evenly over the top of the batter. Finish by sprinkling a pinch of ground cinnamon over the top.
7
Bake this delicious dessert in the preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean and free of crumbs.
