Ingredients
- 1/3 cup ground Italian sausage
- 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- 1/3 cup Italian-style dry bread crumbs
- 3 tablespoons grated Romano cheese
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 teaspoons garlic salt
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 6 Hungarian hot peppers - halved, cored, and seeded
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to a moderate heat setting of 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
2
In a large, deep skillet, cook the sausage over high heat until it reaches a dark brown color and has broken apart into small crumbs, taking around 5 to 7 minutes. Remove the cooked sausage from heat and let it sit for 5 minutes to cool down.
3
Transfer the cooled sausage to a medium-sized bowl. Add softened cream cheese, crushed bread crumbs, grated Romano cheese, olive oil, garlic salt, dried oregano, and chopped basil; mix everything together until you get a well-combined mixture.
4
Fill the hollowed-out pepper halves with the sausage mixture, then place them on a rimmed baking sheet.
5
Bake the stuffed peppers in your preheated oven until they turn golden brown and bubbly, taking around 20 to 25 minutes.
