Ingredients
- 1 cup diced onion
- 1 cup diced green bell pepper
- 3/4 cup Italian-style bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup hot pepper sauce
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 (.75 ounce) packet dry brown gravy mix
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to the desired temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit, or equivalently, 175 degrees Celsius.
2
Mix together the sautéed onion and bell pepper with bread crumbs, a dash of hot pepper sauce, beaten egg, salt, and black pepper in a spacious bowl. Combine this mixture with ground beef until it is perfectly blended.
3
Place the resulting mixture into a loaf-shaped container and sprinkle a generous amount of gravy seasoning over its surface.
4
Bake the dish in the preheated oven for approximately one hour, or until it has attained a golden-brown exterior and is no longer pink in its core. To verify, insert an instant-read thermometer into the center of the dish and check that it registers at least 160 degrees Fahrenheit, or 70 degrees Celsius.
5
Remove the dish from the oven and allow it to rest for ten minutes before presenting.
