Honey Soy Sesame Tuna
Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon mirin (Japanese sweet wine)
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
  • 1/2 cup sesame seeds
  • 4 (6 ounce) tuna steaks
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • wasabi paste
Instructions
1
Collect all necessary ingredients beforehand.
2
Combine soy sauce, sesame oil, mirin, and honey in a small bowl to create a unifying marinade.
3
Divide the marinade into two equal parts and place one portion in another small bowl, adding rice wine vinegar to it. This will serve as a complementary dipping sauce.
4
Arrange sesame seeds in an orderly fashion on a plate. Coat tuna steaks with the remaining marinade mixture, ensuring they are evenly coated before pressing them into the sesame seeds to adhere.
5
Heat a generous amount of olive oil in a well-seasoned cast iron skillet over extremely high heat until it reaches a scorching temperature. Carefully place the tuna steaks in the pan; sear for approximately 30 seconds on each side.
6
Present with the dipping sauce and wasabi paste as a finishing touch.
