- 12 pitted dates
- 1/4 cup chopped, toasted pine nuts
- 3 tablespoons red wine
- 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/4 cup honey

Insert chopped nuts into the cavity of each date, filling the space left by the pit. Arrange dates in a compact container or skillet. If desired, add a pinch of peppercorns to enhance flavor. Next, pour in a small amount of wine and then drizzle a layer of honey over the dates. Cook the dates over medium heat, allowing them to soften and their skins to start peeling away from the fruit. Transfer the cooked dates to a serving platter and permit them to cool slightly before presenting.
