Ingredients
- 1 (10 pound) fully-cooked, bone-in ham
- 1 1/4 cups packed dark brown sugar
- 1/3 cup pineapple juice
- 1/3 cup honey, or more to taste
- 1/3 large orange
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 1/2 teaspoons lemon juice, or to taste
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to a temperature of 325 degrees Fahrenheit (165 degrees Celsius). Position the ham on a raised rack situated in a roasting pan.
2
Proceed to bake the ham uncovered within the preheated oven for 2 hours, allowing it to cook thoroughly.
3
Concurrently, prepare the glaze by combining brown sugar, pineapple juice, and 1/3 cup of honey in a saucepan. Grate the zest from an orange and incorporate it into the saucepan, followed by the juice. Introduce Dijon mustard and ground cloves to the mixture; whisk it vigorously as it reaches a boil over medium-high heat. Gradually reduce the heat and simmer until the glaze thickens slightly, taking around 5 to 10 minutes.
4
Taste and adjust the seasonings of the glaze as needed. If desired, add a squeeze of lemon juice to enhance its tanginess or a drizzle of honey for added sweetness. Set the glaze aside.
5
Remove the ham from the oven after it has completed 2 hours of baking. Brush the ham generously with the prepared glaze.
6
Bake the ham for an additional 30 to 45 minutes, periodically brushing it with the glaze every 10 minutes.
7
Serve the ham hot and indulge in its delicious flavors!
