Honey Garlic Pork Chops
Ingredients
  • 4 (5 ounce) pork chops
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
Instructions
1
Position the oven rack approximately 6 inches away from the heat source and set the broiler to its highest setting.
2
Sprinkle both sides of the pork chops with a pinch of salt, a few grinds of black pepper, and a dash of garlic powder.
3
Place a suitable amount of oil in an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat, allowing it to reach its boiling point. Sear the pork chops until they achieve a golden brown color and are cooked through, typically taking 4 to 5 minutes on each side. Transfer the pork chops to a plate and keep them warm.
4
Lower the heat to medium and melt butter into the pan juices, dislodging any browned particles that have accumulated at the bottom of the skillet. Add a minced clove of garlic and cook until it releases its fragrance, approximately 30 seconds. Introduce honey, water, and vinegar into the pan, increasing the heat to medium-high. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has reduced and thickened slightly, usually taking 3 to 4 minutes. Return the pork chops to the skillet and generously baste them with the sauce.
5
Place the skillet under the broiler and cook until the edges of the pork chops are slightly caramelized, typically taking 1 to 2 minutes.
