Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups milk
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 3/4 cup white sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions
1
Combine milk, cream, and sugar in a saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly until the sugar has fully incorporated into the mixture.
2
Heat the mixture gently, just enough to bring it to a simmer and create a thin layer of foam around the edge of the pan.
3
Carefully pour the mixture into a container that allows for easy pouring, such as a large measuring cup.
4
Add vanilla extract to the mixture and refrigerate it thoroughly for at least 2 hours, allowing it to chill completely.
5
Overnight is ideal, but 2 hours will suffice.
6
Transfer the chilled mixture to an ice cream maker and turn it on, following the manufacturer's instructions for churning time, approximately 20 to 25 minutes.
7
Once the ice cream has reached a soft-serve consistency, serve it immediately.
8
Alternatively, place a sheet of plastic wrap directly on top of the ice cream and refrigerate it for an additional 2 to 3 hours, allowing it to fully ripen.
