Ingredients
- 4 cups blackberries
- 1 cup white sugar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
Instructions
1
Combine blackberries in a cooking vessel with a utensil designed for mashing potatoes; stir sugar into the mixture until the berries release their juices. Set aside 1 tablespoon of blackberry liquid from the cooking vessel; mix it with a powder made from cornstarch in a small container.
2
Combine the cornstarch mixture back into the cooking vessel.
3
Heat the blackberries in a pot until they reach a boiling point; cook, stirring frequently, until the jam thickens, approximately 15 minutes. Add cinnamon and allspice to the mixture.
4
Take the pot off the heat source and allow the jam to cool, taking 30 to 45 minutes. Transfer the cooled jam to a serving container, cover it, and refrigerate until chilled. Add lemon juice just before serving.
