Preheat a substantial, thick-bottomed cooking vessel over medium-high heat to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

Working in tiny groups, cook tortilla wedges in scorching oil until they reach a golden crispiness, approximately 2 minutes. Take the fried tortilla wedges out of the heat source and let them drain on absorbent paper towels. Sprinkle warm tortilla chips with salt.
