Ingredients
- 4 cups water
- 1 cup instant coffee crystals (such as Folgers® Classic Roast)
- 2 cups light brown sugar
- 2 cups lightly packed dark brown sugar
- 1 (750 milliliter) bottle 190 proof grain alcohol (such as Everclear®)
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise and halved

Collect and prepare the necessary components.

Combine water with instant coffee in a medium-sized cooking vessel; heat it until boiling point is reached.

Stir both types of brown sugar into the coffee mixture and decrease the heat level. Continue to simmer, stirring every 15 minutes, for a total of 3 hours. Take the pot off the heat source and allow it to cool down completely.

Transfer the coffee mixture into a clean, large glass container. Add grain alcohol, vanilla extract, and a vanilla bean to the mixture. Seal the container with a tight-fitting lid.

Store it in a dark environment, occasionally shaking the container, for 4 weeks. Divide the mixture into individual bottles, reserving a piece of vanilla bean in each container.
