Homemade Chocolate Turtles
Ingredients
  • 2 cups pecan halves
  • 2 (12 ounce) bags chocolate chips
  • 25 individually wrapped caramels, unwrapped
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
Instructions
1
Heat your oven to the temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
2
Place pecans in a single layer on a baking sheet.
3
Bake the pecans in the preheated oven until they emit a pleasant aroma and have a light brown color, taking about 7 minutes.
4
Heat the chocolate chips in the top of a double boiler over gently simmering water, stirring constantly and scraping down the sides with a flexible spatula to prevent burning.
5
Cover a baking sheet with aluminum foil; apply butter to it.
6
Mix caramels, water, and butter in a saucepan over low heat; cook, stirring occasionally, until the caramels have melted and become smooth. Combine with pecans.
7
Place spoonfuls of the caramel mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, allowing it to cool and harden completely.
8
Drizzle melted chocolate over the caramel nut clusters. Allow them to set in the refrigerator for approximately 1 hour.
