Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, sifted
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup brewed coffee
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups white sugar
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil, such as (Crisco®)
- 2 eggs
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, or 175 degrees Celsius.
2
Next, take a 10x13-inch baking pan and give it a light coating of butter or cooking spray, followed by a dusting of flour to prevent the cake from sticking.
3
In a separate bowl, whisk together 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 cup of sifted unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, and 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder.
4
In another bowl, whisk together 1 cup of milk, 1/2 cup of strong brewed coffee, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
5
In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of granulated sugar, 1/2 cup of vegetable oil, and 2 large eggs. Use an electric mixer to beat the mixture until it's smooth and creamy.
6
Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk mixture every 2 batches. Be sure to stop and scrape down the sides of the bowl after each addition.
7
The batter will be quite thin, so don't worry if it looks like it's going to collapse.
8
Pour the batter into your prepared baking pan and pop it into a preheated oven that's been set to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
9
Bake the cake for about 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
10
Once the cake is done baking, remove it from the oven and let it cool completely before serving.
