Ingredients
- 1 (6 pound) fully-cooked, bone-in ham
- 1 (8 ounce) can pineapple rings
- 2 (6 ounce) cans pineapple juice
- 2 cups brown sugar, divided
- 1 (20 ounce) can crushed pineapple
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to the ideal temperature of 325 degrees Fahrenheit (165 degrees Celsius).
2
Take a large, oven-safe pan and carefully position the ham cut-side down inside it. Secure pineapple slices onto the ham using toothpicks to prevent them from falling off during cooking.
3
Place the ham in a preheated oven for 30 minutes, allowing it to cook and prepare for the glaze.
4
Simultaneously, combine pineapple juice and 1 1/2 cups of brown sugar in a saucepan over medium heat; bring the mixture to a boil. Continue cooking until the glaze has thickened slightly, approximately 5 minutes.
5
Remove the saucepan from the heat source but keep it warm for later use.
6
After 30 minutes of baking, carefully pour some of the prepared glaze over the ham. Return it to the oven for an additional 30 minutes.
7
Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of brown sugar over the ham, followed by an additional pour of glaze. Continue baking until an instant-read thermometer inserted into the center of the ham reads at least 140 degrees Fahrenheit (60 degrees Celsius), approximately 30 more minutes.
8
Remove the ham from the oven and pour any remaining glaze over its surface.
