Ingredients
- 1 pound bacon
- 2 medium onions, chopped
- 2 cups fresh sliced mushrooms
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 4 cups frozen hash brown potatoes, thawed
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
- 4 medium eggs
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1 pinch dried parsley
- 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
Instructions
1
Acquire all necessary ingredients for the recipe.
2
Begin by cooking the bacon in a large skillet over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally until it reaches an even brown color, approximately 10 minutes. Remove the cooked bacon from the skillet and place it on a paper towel-lined plate, allowing it to cool down enough to be easily crumbled. Discard the grease from the skillet.
3
Next, cook the onions and mushrooms in the remaining grease within the skillet until they become translucent and tender, taking around 5 minutes.
4
Prepare a 9x13-inch casserole dish by greasing it with 1 tablespoon of butter. Add the potatoes to the bottom of the casserole dish, sprinkling them with salt, pepper, and garlic salt. Add a layer of crumbled bacon on top of the potatoes, followed by the cooked onions and mushrooms.
5
Combine milk, eggs, and parsley in a mixing bowl and whisk them together. Pour the mixture over the casserole dish, topping it with Cheddar cheese. Cover the dish and refrigerate it for 8 hours or overnight.
6
When you're ready to bake, preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Place the casserole dish in the preheated oven and bake until it's set, approximately 1 hour.
7
Finally, serve the dish hot and indulge in its delicious flavors!
