Ingredients
- 7/8 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 3/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 eggs
- 3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to a high temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit, which is equivalent to 175 degrees Celsius.
2
Next, take a moment to prepare your baking dish by applying a thin layer of grease to its interior surfaces. This will prevent the cake from sticking and make it easier to remove afterwards.
3
In a large mixing bowl, combine three main dry ingredients: flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Set this mixture aside for the time being.
4
In a separate mixing bowl, combine three main wet ingredients: sugar, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Using an electric mixer, beat in eggs until they are fully incorporated into the mixture.
5
Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredient mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix at this stage.
6
Fold in the chocolate chips and pecans, taking care not to crush or damage them during this process.
7
Transfer the cake batter to your prepared baking dish and smooth out the top surface.
8
Place the baking dish in a preheated oven and bake until the edges start to pull away from the sides of the pan and the top appears dry, taking approximately 35-40 minutes to complete.
