Ingredients
- 10 cups water
- 1 cup dried hibiscus petals
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 whole clove
- 1 whole allspice berry
- 1/8 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
- 1 1/2 cups raw sugar
- ice cubes
- 2 1/2 (32 ounce) bottles sparkling water
- 2 limes, cut into wedges
Instructions
1
Combine the liquid from a kettle with dried hibiscus flowers, ground cinnamon, whole cloves, ground allspice, and ground nutmeg in a medium-sized cooking vessel. Heat it up over extremely high heat until it reaches its boiling point. Lower the heat and let it simmer for 1 and a half hours.
2
Take the pot off the heat source and mix in granulated sugar until it is completely incorporated, taking about one minute. Allow the syrup to cool down to a comfortable temperature, approximately one hour. Place it in the refrigerator until you are ready to use it.
3
To make hibiscus infused drinks, fill 10 glasses with ice cubes. Pour three fluid ounces of the hibiscus syrup into each glass, followed by eight fluid ounces of carbonated water. Squeeze the juice of one lime wedge into each glass.
