Ingredients
- 1 (14 ounce) package macaroni and cheese
- 1 pound extra-lean ground beef
- 1 small onion, chopped
- water
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 (10 ounce) can canned whole kernel corn
- 1 (10 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
- 3 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
1
Heat the oven to its highest temperature setting, 450 degrees F (220 degrees C).
2
Fill a large container with water and add a moderate amount of salt, then bring it to a rolling boil. Cook macaroni in the boiling water, stirring every now and then, until it reaches a slightly resistant yet still slightly yielding texture, approximately 8 minutes.
3
Meanwhile, cook ground beef and an onion in a skillet over medium heat until the beef is nicely browned and crumbly, taking around 7 to 10 minutes. Discard any excess oil that accumulates.
4
Drain the cooked macaroni; do not wash it. Place it back into its container and add butter, milk, and both packets of cheese sauce mix. Stir until everything is fully incorporated.
5
Combine the cooked macaroni and cheese, ground beef mixture, undrained corn, tomato sauce, and tomato paste in a 2-quart casserole dish; mix thoroughly.
6
Bake the prepared mixture in the preheated oven until it reaches a heated state, 20 to 25 minutes. Finish with a layer of grated Parmesan cheese.
