Hearty Beef Goulash
Ingredients
  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 2 large yellow onions, chopped
  • 6 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 2 (15 ounce) cans tomato sauce
  • 2 (14.5 ounce) cans diced tomatoes
  • 3 cups water
  • 1/2 cup sofrito sauce (such as Goya®)
  • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon seasoned salt, or to taste
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 2 1/2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni
Instructions
1
Preheat a large cooking vessel, such as a Dutch oven or saucepan, to medium-high heat. Introduce beef into the pot and cook, stirring constantly, until it develops a rich brown color and crumbly texture, approximately 10 minutes. Remove excess fat from the pot by draining it.
2
Next, add sliced onions and minced garlic to the pot. Cook, stirring frequently, until they become translucent and fragrant, around 10 minutes.
3
Now, combine the following ingredients in the pot: tomato sauce, canned diced tomatoes, water, sofrito sauce, Worcestershire sauce, dried Italian seasoning, seasoned salt, and bay leaves. Stir well to combine the flavors.
4
Bring the mixture to a rolling boil, then gradually decrease the heat to low and cover the pot. Continue simmering, occasionally stirring the contents, until all the flavors have melded together and blended harmoniously, roughly 20 minutes.
5
Subsequently, add macaroni to the pot and cover it. Continue simmering until the pasta has become tender and fully incorporated into the flavorful sauce, approximately 25 minutes.
6
Finally, remove the bay leaves from the pot before serving.
