Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup crushed saltine crackers
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 (14.5 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
Instructions
1
Combine ground beef, milk, crushed crackers, finely chopped onion, salt, and black pepper in a bowl. Form the mixture into a slender, elongated shape and position it on a baking sheet. Cover and chill in the refrigerator for an extended period, ideally 8 hours or overnight.
2
Heat a large skillet over high heat. Shape the loaf into thin slices, approximately 1 inch thick, and sear them in the hot skillet until they develop a golden-brown color on both sides, taking 2 to 3 minutes per side. The interior will remain pink. Arrange the slices in a roasting pan. Apply mushroom soup to each steak.
3
Place the steaks in the preheated oven until the mushroom soup starts to bubble and the meat reaches a safe internal temperature, indicated by an instant-read thermometer reading at least 160 degrees F (70 degrees C).
