- 2 cups water

Combine the beans, sugar, minced garlic, chopped onion, and diced bacon in a slow cooker. Add the water, seal the lid, and set the cooker to High heat for 6 hours. Remove 2/3 of the liquid that accumulates during cooking, and discard the cooked bacon. Utilize a potato masher to achieve a chunky texture for the beans. Add salt according to your preference, and serve the dish hot.
