Hash Brown Casserole
Ingredients
  • cooking spray
  • 1 (30 ounce) package frozen shredded hash browns, thawed
  • 2 1/2 cups shredded Colby cheese, divided
  • 1 (10.5 ounce) can cream of chicken soup
  • 8 ounces sour cream
  • 2/3 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • chopped parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to the desired temperature of 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
2
Spray a 9x13-inch casserole dish with cooking spray to ensure it releases easily after baking.
3
Once the hash browns have thawed, carefully pour off any excess moisture using a salad spinner to achieve the perfect consistency.
4
Mix together the hash browns, 2 cups of Colby cheese, a can of cream of chicken soup, a dollop of sour cream, some finely chopped onion, melted butter, beaten egg, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a large bowl until well combined.
5
Spoon the hash brown mixture into the prepared casserole dish, followed by a sprinkle of the remaining 1/2 cup of cheese on top.
6
Place the casserole dish in the preheated oven and bake until the cheese is melted, starts to brown, and reaches your desired level of doneness, typically between 45 to 55 minutes.
7
Finish the dish by garnishing it with some chopped parsley and serving it hot, straight from the oven.
