Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon orange juice
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, or 175 degrees Celsius. To prevent the baking sheets from sticking, lightly spray them with non-stick cooking spray or line them with parchment paper.
2
Mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl using a sifting motion to incorporate air.
3
In a separate, larger bowl, use an electric mixer to cream together the butter and sugar until they become light and fluffy.
4
Add one egg at a time to the bowl, mixing well after each addition to ensure everything is fully incorporated.
5
Add a teaspoon of vanilla extract and the juice of one orange to the bowl, mixing until well combined.
6
Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients in small increments, mixing until a dough forms.
7
Roll out the dough on a surface dusted with flour to a thickness of 1/4 inch.
8
Use cookie cutters to cut out the desired shapes from the dough, dipping them into a small amount of flour as needed to prevent sticking.
9
Place the cut-out cookies on the prepared baking sheets, leaving enough space between each cookie for even cooking.
10
Bake the cookies in the preheated oven until they reach a golden brown color, 10 to 12 minutes.
11
Allow the cookies to cool slightly on the baking sheets before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
