Ham and Asparagus Fettuccine
Ingredients
  • 12 ounces dry fettuccini noodles
  • 8 ounces fresh asparagus, trimmed and cut into 2 inch pieces
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 pound cooked ham, diced
Instructions
1
Boil a large container filled with salted water until it reaches a vigorous bubble. Introduce fettuccini into the pot and re-establish the boil. Cook pasta without a lid, occasionally stirring, until it reaches an optimal level of doneness but still retains some firmness in the center, approximately 8 to 10 minutes. Stir asparagus into the pot during its final 5 minutes of cooking; transfer it to a large serving container and set aside.
2
Simultaneously, combine cream and butter in a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat until it starts to froth; add Parmesan, garlic powder, black pepper, and cayenne. Continue cooking until the mixture thickens, stirring occasionally. Introduce ham into the saucepan and cook until it's heated through.
3
Combine the sauce with pasta and asparagus; mix well to achieve a uniform consistency. Serve the dish immediately.
