- 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon black mustard seed
- 1 dried red chile pepper, crushed
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon white sugar
- ground black pepper to taste

Boil a substantial container of water until it reaches its highest temperature. Briefly submerge green beans in the boiling liquid, then take them out after 3 to 4 minutes have passed. Discard the water and rinse the beans with cold liquid, then discard again. Pat dry.

Heat a generous amount of oil in a large pan over a moderate heat setting. Introduce garlic and mustard seed into the mixture; cook until they turn golden brown, taking about 1 to 2 minutes. Add chile pepper and stir until it's well combined; then introduce the green beans, salt, and sugar into the pan. Cook and stir constantly until the beans are tender, approximately 8 minutes have passed. Season with pepper before serving.
