Ingredients
- 4 pounds corned beef brisket
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 (12 fluid ounce) can or bottle Irish stout beer (e.g. Guinness(r))
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to a moderate temperature of 300 degrees Fahrenheit or 150 degrees Celsius.
2
Rinse the brisket under cold running water to remove any impurities, then gently pat it dry with paper towels to prevent excess moisture. Place the brisket on a wire rack in a roasting pan or Dutch oven, ensuring it's centered and even.
3
Generously sprinkle brown sugar all over the brisket, making sure to cover every surface evenly. Next, pour a sufficient amount of beer around the brisket, taking care not to overflow the pan. Gently pour some of the beer over the sugar-coated brisket, allowing it to saturate and stick to the meat.
4
Place the covered roasting pan or Dutch oven in the preheated oven and bake until the brisket is tender, approximately 2 ½ hours. To verify doneness, insert an instant-read thermometer into the center of the brisket and check that it reaches a minimum internal temperature of 190 degrees Fahrenheit or 88 degrees Celsius.
5
Once the brisket is cooked, remove it from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
