Ingredients
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/3 cup low-sodium chicken broth
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 2 teaspoons Sriracha sauce
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger root
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, or to taste
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 4 boneless chicken breast, cut into bite-size pieces
- 3 tablespoons water
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
Instructions
1
Combine the liquid ingredients - water, chicken broth, ketchup, soy sauce, honey, garlic, rice vinegar, Sriracha, sesame oil, ginger root, and red pepper flakes - in a medium-sized bowl for the sauce.
2
Heat a generous amount of vegetable oil in a large cooking vessel, such as a wok or skillet, over an elevated heat setting. Add the chicken and stir-fry until it has achieved a uniform opacity on all sides, taking approximately 2 to 3 minutes. Transfer the chicken to a separate serving plate.
3
Lower the heat to a moderate level and add the prepared sauce to the cooking vessel. Whisk together the water and cornstarch mixture in a small, separate bowl and add it to the sauce, stirring continuously until the sauce begins to thicken in consistency, taking around 3 to 5 minutes. Add the chicken back into the cooking vessel, stir it in thoroughly, and cook until it is heated through again, approximately 2 minutes.
