- 4 pounds beef tri tip, cut into 1/2 inch slices

Combine the soy sauce, olive oil, water, minced garlic, and a pinch of black pepper in a large, nonreactive bowl.

Place the beef tri-tip in the bowl and coat it evenly with the marinade mixture. Cover the bowl with a lid or plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, allowing the flavors to meld together.

Prepare your outdoor grill by preheating it to high heat and lightly brushing the grill grates with oil to prevent sticking.

Sear the beef slices on the grill for 3 to 5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. Remove the beef from the grill and discard any remaining marinade that may have accumulated on it.
