Ingredients
- 8 sausages
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 medium onions, halved and sliced
- 3 large apples - peeled, cored, and cut into thin wedges
- 2 tablespoons apple cider or red wine vinegar
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
1
Get your grill ready for intense heat by giving it a thorough cleaning and making sure the grates are free of debris. Next, take those sausages and give them a few pokes with a fork to help them cook evenly. Then, place the sausages in a large container filled with water and let them simmer over high heat for about 7 minutes, or until they're cooked through. Remove the sausages from the heat and set them aside for now.
2
While the sausages are cooking, melt some butter in a large pan over medium heat. Add sliced onions to the pan and cook until they become soft and translucent, stirring occasionally. Then, add diced apples, vinegar, and brown sugar to the pan and cook, stirring gently, until the mixture is nicely caramelized - this might take around 10 to 15 minutes. Season the apples and onions with salt and pepper to taste.
3
Meanwhile, take those cooked sausages and place them on the preheated grill or under the broiler to get a nice sear. Once cooked, serve them on top of a mound of the delicious caramelized apples and onions you made earlier.
