- 1 pinch ground black pepper
- 1/2 lemon, thinly sliced
- 1/2 sweet onion, thinly sliced
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 2 sprigs fresh rosemary
- 2 sprigs fresh thyme

Prepare the necessary components by collecting all required ingredients.

Preheat an outdoor grill to its highest possible temperature and lightly brush the grill surface with oil.

Anoint the exterior of each trout liberally with olive oil and sprinkle generously with sea salt.

Fill the cavities of each trout with a moderate amount of salt and black pepper. Place half of the lemon and onion slices, along with minced garlic, a sprig of rosemary, and a sprig of thyme, into the cavity of each trout.

Transfer the preheated grill to a lower heat setting and position the trout directly onto the grill; cook until the flesh can be easily flaked and the skins are nicely browned, 6 to 7 minutes per side, flipping once.
