Grandma's Vegan Chocolate Cake
Ingredients
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 6 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 cups water
  • 2/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons distilled white vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions
1
Heat your oven to the desired temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit (or 175 degrees Celsius, if you prefer metric).
2
Next, take a moment to lubricate a 9x13-inch baking dish with some cooking spray.
3
Combine the dry ingredients of flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and baking powder in a large mixing container.
4
In another bowl, blend the liquid components of water, oil, vinegar, and vanilla extract until well combined; then pour these wet ingredients into the dry ingredients mixture.
5
Using an electric mixer, thoroughly blend the two mixtures until you achieve a smooth consistency.
6
Pour the final mixture into your prepared baking pan.
7
Place the cake in the preheated oven and continue baking until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, taking around 20 to 25 minutes.
8
Once done, carefully remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool down completely within the pan for approximately 30 minutes.
9
Finally, sprinkle a generous amount of confectioners' sugar over the cooled cake.
