Grandma's Sweet Noodle Kugel
Ingredients
  • 1 (8 ounce) package broad egg noodles
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 eggs, separated
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 apples - peeled, cored and chopped
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup chopped almonds
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to a high temperature of three fifty degrees Fahrenheit or one seventy five degrees Celsius.
2
Next, take some cooking spray and give a two-quart casserole dish a good coating to prevent any food from sticking.
3
Fill a big pot with water that has just the right amount of salt in it, and get it to a rolling boil. Now, add your egg noodles to the pot and stir them in gently. Return the pot to a boil and let it cook for about five minutes, or until your noodles are done but still have some bite to them.
4
Drain the water from the pot and put your cooked noodles into a big mixing bowl. Add some butter to the noodles and mix them together until they're well coated.
5
Take an electric mixer and beat some egg whites in a separate bowl until they become stiff and hold their shape. Set those egg whites aside for now.
6
Take another bowl and whisk together some egg yolks until they're smooth. Add some sugar to the egg yolks and mix them together until everything is well combined.
7
Now, pour the egg yolk mixture over your noodles and add some cinnamon, apples, raisins, and almonds to the mix. Use a spoon to gently fold in those beaten egg whites, trying not to lose any of their volume.
8
Finally, pour the entire mixture into your prepared baking dish and put it in the oven to bake. Let it cook for about thirty minutes, or until your kugel is nicely browned and the center is set.
