Grandma's Pork Wontons
Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 cup diced celery
  • 1 cup shredded carrot
  • 1 cup diced onion
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 (14 ounce) package wonton wrappers
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 quart canola oil for frying
Instructions
1
Combine ground pork, chopped celery, grated carrot, diced onion, and minced garlic in a bowl. Add salt, pepper, and soy sauce to taste, then mix everything together thoroughly using your hands until the ingredients are well incorporated.
2
Next, lay out individual wonton wrappers on a clean surface. Place 1 teaspoon of the pork mixture in the center of each wrapper, making sure to leave a small border around the edges.
3
Dip your finger in beaten egg and run it along the edges of each wrapper. Fold the wrapper over the filling to form a triangle, pressing the edges together firmly to seal the wonton. Place the sealed wontons on a baking sheet.
4
Preheat canola oil in a deep fryer or large saucepan to 365 degrees F (180 degrees C). Once hot, carefully add wontons to the oil in batches of 6 at a time. Fry until they turn golden brown and rise to the surface, about 3-4 minutes per batch. Remove the fried wontons from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
