Ingredients
- 2 fresh chile de arbol peppers, or to taste
- 3 medium avocados - peeled, pitted, and mashed (one pit reserved)
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped onion
- 1/4 cup chopped roma tomatoes
- 1 (14.5 ounce) can whole peeled tomatoes
- 1 1/2 cups chopped fresh cilantro
- 2 pinches garlic powder, or to taste
- salt to taste
- 1 lime, juiced
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit, or 150 degrees Celsius. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the chile peppers on it.
2
To toast the chile peppers, place them in the preheated oven and let them brown for approximately 7 minutes. Remove the stems once they are done.
3
In a separate bowl, mash together the avocados, onion, and roma tomatoes until well combined.
4
In a blender, puree the canned tomatoes, cilantro, toasted chile peppers, garlic powder, and salt until smooth. Divide the blended mixture into two portions - pour about half of it into the bowl with the avocado mixture, and reserve the remaining mixture for another use or as a dipping sauce.
5
Add a squeeze of fresh lime juice to the avocado mixture and gently stir until everything is evenly mixed. Transfer the guacamole to a smaller serving bowl, and place the reserved avocado pit in the center of the bowl to prevent browning.
