Ingredients
- 1 pound lean pork butt, cut into pieces
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
1
Begin by combining the pork, sliced onion, ground cinnamon, and whole cloves in a saucepan. Add a pinch of salt and pepper to taste.
2
Next, add enough water to the saucepan to just submerge the pork, leaving a small amount above the surface.
3
Bring the mixture to a rolling boil, then gradually decrease the heat to a low simmer.
4
Allow the mixture to cook for approximately 1 hour, stirring occasionally to prevent the pork from cooking unevenly.
5
Once the liquid has almost completely evaporated, use a potato masher or wire whisk to break down the pork into thin strands.
6
Carefully pour off any remaining liquid, then transfer the cooked gorton to a serving bowl.
7
Refrigerate the dish until it has chilled, then serve cold.
