- 1 (16 ounce) package gnocchi
- 1/4 cup butter, divided, or more as needed
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 head cabbage, shredded
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 pinch red pepper flakes
- salt and ground black pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon grated Parmesan cheese, or to taste

Brew a substantial container of salted water to a rolling boil. Simmer gnocchi in the boiling water until they rise to the surface, 2 to 4 minutes.

Melt 2 tablespoons of butter and olive oil in a Dutch oven over an elevated heat setting. Introduce the onion; cook until it becomes tender, approximately 5 minutes. Blend in cabbage, garlic, and red pepper flakes. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cook and stir until the cabbage becomes transparent but retains its crispiness, 5 to 7 minutes.

Merge cooked gnocchi with the cabbage mixture by gently tossing them together. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top to complete the dish.
