  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 (3 ounce) halibut cheeks

Combine the juice of oranges, chopped cilantro, grated ginger, minced garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, and crushed red pepper flakes in a small bowl; reserve for later use.

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the halibut cheeks until they are golden brown on both sides, taking about 2 to 3 minutes per side. Pour the previously prepared mixture into the skillet and bring it to a rolling boil. Lower the heat to medium and let it simmer until the halibut becomes tender and flakes apart easily with a fork, while the sauce has thickened slightly. Transfer the halibut cheeks to a plate and brush them with the orange sauce for serving.
