Ingredients
- 4 (8 ounce) fresh salmon fillets
- salt to taste
- 1/3 cup cold water
- 1/4 cup seasoned rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon hot chile paste (such as sambal oelek)
- 1 tablespoon finely grated fresh ginger
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
Instructions
1
Preheat the outdoor grill to a medium heat setting and lightly brush the grill grates with oil.
2
Season the salmon fillets with a pinch of salt.
3
Place the salmon fillets on the preheated grill and cook for 6 to 8 minutes per side, or until it easily breaks apart with a fork.
4
In a small saucepan, combine water, rice wine vinegar, brown sugar, minced garlic, chili paste, grated ginger, and soy sauce over medium heat.
5
Bring the mixture to a boil and then reduce the heat to medium, simmering until it has almost thickened, about 2 minutes.
6
Sprinkle a few leaves of basil on top of the cooked salmon and spoon the glaze over its surface.
