Ingredients
- 1 medium head garlic, top of bulbs trimmed off so tops of cloves are exposed
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 pounds russet potatoes, peeled and quartered
- 4 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1/2 cup milk
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
1
First, preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius) for optimal cooking results.
2
Next, lightly drizzle a small amount of oil over the garlic head before covering it with aluminum foil to prevent burning.
3
Then, place the wrapped garlic in the preheated oven and bake for a total of 1 hour.
4
About 35 minutes into the baking time, bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil and add diced potatoes for cooking.
5
Continue boiling the potatoes in the salted water until they reach a tender state, approximately 15 minutes.
6
Once cooked, remove the potatoes from the boiling water and let them cool for a short period of time.
7
Then, chop the cooked potatoes into smaller pieces and place them in a large mixing bowl.
8
Add milk, melted butter, salt, and pepper to the mixing bowl with the chopped potatoes.
9
Remove the garlic from the oven and carefully cut it in half before squeezing the soft, cooked cloves into the mixing bowl.
10
Mix all ingredients together using an electric mixer until they are well combined and achieve the desired consistency.
