Garlic Herb Tuna Steaks
Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 (5 ounce) tuna steaks
  • 1 pinch salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 1/3 cup fat-free half-and-half
  • 1/4 cup garlic-and-herb spreadable cheese (such as Alouette®)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 2 cups fresh spinach
Instructions
1
Preheat a non-stick skillet over medium heat, allowing it to reach the optimal temperature. Introduce melted butter into the skillet and let it simmer.
2
Next, sprinkle a pinch of salt and a few grinds of pepper over the tuna steaks to enhance their flavor. Gently place the seasoned tuna steaks into the skillet and cook for 3 to 4 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. Transfer the cooked tuna steaks to a serving plate and keep them warm, ready to be served.
3
Now, combine half-and-half and cheese in the skillet, stirring until they are fully incorporated into a smooth sauce. Introduce a squeeze of fresh lemon juice into the mixture, stirring it in thoroughly.
4
Before serving, reserve 2 tablespoons of the sauce and set it aside for later use. Add a handful of spinach to the skillet, cooking it until it has wilted and been fully coated in the sauce, typically taking 1 to 2 minutes.
5
Divide the wilted spinach between two plates. Place a tuna steak on top of each plate, and serve the reserved sauce over the tuna steaks.
