  • 2 whole artichokes
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, sliced
  • salt and pepper to taste

Fill the pan with a sufficient amount of water, just enough to reach the bottom. Heat it up over medium heat until it reaches a rolling boil. Meanwhile, take some time to prepare the artichokes by cutting off their stems and discarding any tough outer leaves. Next, insert some butter slices and garlic pieces into the artichoke leaves; add a pinch of salt and pepper to taste.

Once the water has reached its boiling point, insert the steamer basket into the pot and carefully place the artichokes inside, with their stems facing downwards. Cover the pot with a lid and let the artichokes cook for about 25 to 30 minutes, or until they're tender and easily pierced with a fork.
